Principal topics of interest in IAS events are applications of technical computing and in particular
Mathematica in mathematics, computer science, the physical and biological sciences, economics, engineering, the arts, and education. The seminar will provide a forum for researchers and users from diverse fields to present original work, and to learn about current developments and uses of advanced scientific computing. Besides keynote lectures and contributed papers, the seminar offers tutorials, discussion forums, poster presentations and software demonstrations. A central objective is to secure as many students as possible to participate in the seminar.The 5th International Arctic Seminar took place at the same time as the MURMANSK EXPO 2002.
There were 40 students from Rovaniemi Polytechnic, Finland, to attend the IAS 2002. In all, there were over 100 participants.
